170 Community Project

Who We Are:

170 Community Project was established in 1960. Since that time, we have developed and delivered a wide range of services to the local community of New Cross, with a focus on providing Information, Advice and Guidance services to the most vulnerable in our community. We have built a strong reputation within the London Borough of Lewisham for providing high quality, independent person-centred welfare advice. The organisation is currently open 4 days a week, hosting 2 full time and 8 part-time staff. In addition to providing welfare advice we currently deliver a domestic violence project at Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospital, and we host a volunteer-led HIV support group, Red Ribbon, and an employment support worker and IT skills worker from the New Cross Gate Trust. In the financial year 2016-17, we saw approximately 700 clients, and we succeeded in gaining a total of £324,115 in back-dated awards and actual benefit increases for our clients.
